Kaiapoi High School Chefs Earn Bronze at National Finals!

What an exciting and incredibly stressful day at the National Secondary Schools’ Culinary Challenge (NSSCC) National Finals in Auckland for Ella McNally-Cummins and William Hings on Thursday!

After winning the Canterbury Regional Competition, our Year 12 Hospitality team travelled to Auckland to represent Kaiapoi High School, competing against regional winners from around New Zealand.

The students had 110 minutes to produce four identical entrée plates and four identical dessert plates, putting months of planning, practice and refinement to the test.

It was a high-pressure environment, but they worked incredibly hard and produced two dishes they could be very proud of.

Their hard work was recognised with a Bronze Award, based on the internationally recognised Worldchef’s marking system.

It was a fantastic achievement at national level and an amazing experience for our students. We are incredibly proud of how they represented Kaiapoi High School and of all the hard work, determination and resilience they showed throughout the competition.
