As we celebrate each of our teams that competed during Winter Tournament Week, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what an incredible week it was for KHS Sport.

As the winter season came to an end 10 teams, 115 students, 11 staff, 4 community coaches & 25 parent coaches/managers/parent helpers, travelled between Saturday 29th August & Saturday 5th September, giving our students the opportunity to test themselves against schools from across the South Island.

Netball – SISS Champs – Nelson

Hockey Girls – Jenny McDonald Cup – Blenheim

Hockey Boys – Coaches Cup – Greymouth

Football Girls – Lotto Sportswear Cup – Invercargill

Basketball Jnr Girls & Boys SISS Premiership – Christchurch

Basketball Snr Girls & Boys SISS Champs – Christchurch

Equestrian SISS Champs – Christchurch

Badminton – Canterbury Secondary Schools – Christchurch

But Tournament Week is about so much more than results. Of course, the wins, close games and individual achievements are something to celebrate, but for me, the real reward is seeing our students support each other, show resilience, step outside their comfort zones and create friendships and memories that will stay with them long after the final whistle.

I couldn’t be prouder of the way every student represented Kaiapoi High School , showing skill, determination, spirit and sportsmanship, both on and off the court, field and competition arena.

A huge thank you to our incredible staff, coaches, managers, parents and supporters who gave their time, energy and support to make these opportunities possible. Tournament Week simply wouldn’t happen without you!
