It has been another busy term as we continue to build our International Department.

Since Week 4 of this term, some of our international students have engaged more deeply with local culture and learned about the history of Kaiapoi. Kaiapoi High School has designed special classes and activities tailored for these students. Each day is unique, offering not only classroom learning, but also opportunities for them to acquire new skills in the community, such as golfing, supported by our dedicated teachers, as well as river bank walks, among other activities. Our primary goal is to ensure that every student has the best possible experience during their time at Kaiapoi High School.

Meanwhile, our school principal, Mr Reid, and I recently traveled to China to promote New Zealand’s education system, alongside other schools from across the country and universities. During our visit, we had the honour of meeting numerous individuals involved in the education sector in China. It was a pleasure for Mr Reid and me to visit two schools—one in Wuhan and one in Guangzhou.

Due to our commitment to educational excellence, No. 1 Senior High School of Wuhan Economic Development Zone has signed a sister school cooperation agreement with Kaiapoi High School. We are excited about this partnership and look forward to working closely together for the benefit of students from both schools.
