Cultural lunch

Fabulous flavours, tasty treats and unique cuisine was offered by students from the International Department through involvement at our Cultural lunch.

As lunch at the Baptist Church took on a ‘cultural’ flavour with students from the International department treating the locals to some new and exciting dishes from their home countries as a treat.

Hikari, Ruka, Nanami from Japan alongside Minyeong and Hyeonjin from South Korea all prepared, served and spoke about each traditional dish they brought. They explained what each was made from, when it was to be eaten and the importance of it to their culture.

Our guests were keen to try something new and took on the challenge with great enthusiasm. They enjoyed engaging with the girls, asking lots of questions and commenting on the nice ‘spicy’ taste and flavours. It was a refreshing change for them and  an opportunity to learn about and try other traditional foods, which they would not necessarily get a chance to do.

A successful lunch for all involved!!

Open Night at school was a huge success with many ‘potential’ students and their families viewing our facilities. Our International students put on a great show, with Hikari in traditional dress, Yuta and Mao leading the way with Japanese games and Calligraphy being done by Nanami and Ruka. Our German girls, Mia and Viktoria, were busy with Hospitality and there was plenty of chat about their home countries and cultures.

Students have been enjoying class trips, Outdoor Education camps, Music and taking part in Dance sessions, tutorials and performances. All of these opportunities enable them to develop skills and build on their confidence and ability.
