Kaiapoi High School is a modern co-educational school and was established in 1972. The school grounds and environment are very park-like, with native plantings. We are a family school with a proud tradition of hosting international students for over 20 years.
The School is located just 20 minutes north of beautiful Christchurch city and the international airport, 10 minutes from the coast/beaches, and within an hour of the mountains, with skiing and tramping/hiking opportunities.
The School has a well qualified and experienced staff and a reputation for providing for the learning needs of each student. The roll is 811, with approximately 25 international students in Years 9 to 13 of varying nationalities. The students are friendly and helpful, and the School offers a strong community spirit.
Kaiapoi High School is a member of Christchurch Educated, an organisation that promotes the Christchurch region as an inspiring place to study and offers ongoing support for Christchurch educational institutions. They have developed two guides for international students coming to Christchurch, a Pre-Arrival Guide, entitled ‘Thinking of coming to Christchurch?’ and an Arrival Guide, entitled ‘Just arrived in Christchurch?’. These guides contain a lot of helpful information.
Kaiapoi High School is a signatory to the Code of Practice for Pastoral Care of International Students.
