Financial Information 2017
The Education Act 1989 gives the right to free enrolment and free education in New Zealand for every New Zealand resident from the age of 5 to 18 years.
The funding received by schools provides for only the very basic curriculum delivery. At Kaiapoi High School we pride ourselves on offering enhanced learning opportunities for all students. To allow this we rely on contributions from parents/caregivers.
The voluntary donation supports the sporting, cultural and recreational activities of our students and assists the school to continue providing further resources beyond those covered by government funding. As a guideline we seek donations of $85pa for a family with one student attending our school, or $125pa for a family with two or more students enrolled.
Contributions are also sought to support enhanced/extra learning opportunities within specific subjects and courses.
Any such donation can be claimed annually as a tax credit using the Inland Revenue Department form IR526.
School magazine/yearbook @ $15.00 is an optional purchase and must be paid for by 25th September each year as we need to know the number to print for the end-of-year distribution.
NZQA Fees for senior students (years 11, 12, 13) of $76.70 are due for payment by 1st September. Community Services cardholders are eligible for a reduced rate of $20.00 by applying for NZQA Financial Assistance. To apply for financial assistance, please download the form below or collect a form from the school office. The close-off date for this is 1st August.
