FACILITIES

The School has excellent facilities and surroundings. Specialist rooms are all well equipped. A comprehensive equipment renewal policy enables students to become familiar with modern technology such as the recent $120,000 upgrade to one of our computer suites. Computer systems assist library research and book control. Computers support all learning activities.

The impressive auditorium has full drama and music facilities. The music suite includes an electronic keyboard laboratory and practice and recording studios. This complex is used for meetings, concerts and stage shows, such as Oz, which was performed in 2001 and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, which was performed in 2003. A tohu and a mural with its pou whakamaharatanga feature in the foyer. The fully equipped gymnasium provides for indoor sports, fitness and weight training. Sports fields include a permanent cricket wicket and nets, rugby, soccer and hockey pitches, and floodlit tennis and netball courts.

The Kaiapoi squash courts are on the school grounds. Community initiatives in 2001 saw the building of a multi-disciplinary sports pavilion. Together these form a first class sports complex.

Kaiapoi High School is a community school and as such we host the Young Parents’ College and Childcare Centre on our site. This facility provides further educational opportunities for young parents of the Waimakariri community.

Students at all levels have support to attend outdoor education and leadership training at the Boyle River Outdoor Education Centre and other locations.
