English for Speakers Of Other Languages

*English for Speakers of Other Languages is a specialised service provided for students who are not native speakers of English. This includes International Students (Fee-payers and Exchange Students) and Non-English Speaking Background (NESB) migrant and work permit background students.

*The ESOL Department has functional links with both the International Department and the English Faculty. ESOL courses are aligned with the English Curriculum but utilise specialised ESOL resources and ESOL-trained staff.

*English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes and English Support are available where required.

*ESOL classes are currently available at Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate and Upper-Intermediate levels and are timetabled into three separate blocks in the senior school.

* Year 9 and 10 students may join the timetabled senior classes, where appropriate, or attend English classes with their Core Class, with additional support, if this is considered more beneficial.

* Senior students may be placed in English classes in addition to, or instead of, ESOL classes if it is considered to be more appropriate to an individual student's needs or English language competence.
