What is Digital Technology?

Digital Technology is a new curriculum area. For the first time Computing subjects have their own curriculum to follow. It has been broken into the following strands:
  • Digital Information (Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Presentations)
  • Digital Media (Movie Making, Web Design, Desktop Publishing, Music Development)
  • Digital Infrastructure (How computers and other digital technologies work)
  • Programming and Computer Science (Developing software, games etc)
  • Electronics and Controls (Electronic and robotic development using computer software)

Digital Technology is part of the Technology learning area

Digital Technologies sit within the Technology learning area of the New Zealand Curriculum. The Digital Technology strands are reflected in the development of a body of knowledge that outlines specific knowledge and skills for digital technologies.

Year 9   Digital Technology
Year 10 Digital Technology
Year 11 Digital Technology (Level 1 NCEA)
Year 12 Digital Technology (Level 2 NCEA)
Year 13 Digital Technology (Level 3 NCEA)
