   Kia Ora - Welcome to Kaiapoi High School

Tena Koutou Katoa

Welcome to Kaiapoi High School.

It is with great pride that I introduce to you our vibrant, community-based school. We are a school that is focused on teaching and learning to produce innovative, well balanced, life-long learners. Our high quality staff bring both a passion for their work and a commitment to each of their students.

Our school motto: Ma Te Aroha Ka Tutaki translates to “Through caring, concern and support for others, all things are possible”, and combines with “The Kaiapoi Way – Be the best you can be” to complete our school's focus to encourage and support our students to strive for personal excellence.

Our vision to produce innovative, well-balanced, life-long learners is supported by our four core values: Respect, integrity, Community and Excellence. An important part of this is the key partnership between the school, our parents/care-givers and the community.

As part of the fast-growing North Canterbury area of Waimakariri, Kaiapoi High School is the perfect balance between being small enough to care, and large enough to compete.

OUR STATUE:

Our statue was created as part of the artist in residence project and represents the reaching out of young hands for the knowledge that is so vital for a rich and fulfilling life. The school motto is Ma te aroha ka tutaki. This means that through caring concern and support for others, all things are possible. We believe our young men and women deserve the best education possible. We encourage students to build strong academic, cultural and recreational interests, and to become full and useful members of the community.

THE SCHOOL INTENDS THAT ITS STUDENTS WILL:

acquire the skills and knowledge required by the New Zealand curriculum;
accept responsibility for their learning and set personal goals for progress and achievement;
be actively involved in learning support programmes designed to meet individual and group needs;
develop individual and group leadership skills through curriculum programmes including outdoor education;
develop an appreciation of the creative, visual and performing arts;
participate in sporting and recreational activities to the best of their ability;

develop an awareness of issues related to personal health and safety;
develop an understanding of the need for life-long learning and of ways our School provides learning opportunities.
